It said make the straps 5 inches above the division, but there are two of them, and I used the second division! This 2 year old's dress fits me as a top! (I won't be wearing it though, so don't worry!) I gave it to Good Will. I am waiting to finish it until I get some snap sets and cute flower buttons for accents.
Until I get to the store in the morning, I decided to try to make my own pattern for a change. I decided to try to make my daughter a top. I finished it as well! I am happy to say I have created my own crochet pattern for a toddler girl's top! It is in mint green and lavender. It is also sleeveless, as we are getting ready for the spring and summer. I am going to try to post a picture IF I can get my camera to work. My husband still hasn't bought me a memory card for our camcorder....I will also post the pattern for others to try and use when I write it up soon.
I plan on trying to make matching capri pants for the top as well.
Okay, I'm off to bed to think on how to make the pants!

What a Week!

Whoa, last week was long! I had so much to do, and so little time to do it in! I can't believe March will be here next week! Life has been crazy, with twists and turns every time you blink!
My husband had been looking for a better job, and got a couple of offers. He gave his two weeks notice at his current work, and they countered by offering him a better position, on day shift, with a m40% increase in salary. He turned it down, and they literally moved people around to make a new position, with even more pay, and countered again. So, one day, he is having to go to Europe to train for the new job, the next, he accepts the counter offer from his current company. Makes my head spin! Yep, he would've had to go to Europe for amonth to train if he had went with the new company. Crazy stuff!
My daughter learned to say "I love you" last week, and it is the sweetest! My son, on the other hand, has learned how to use words like because, whatever, everything, almost, etc. in context correctly. It is so cute to hear him talking so much!

On projects, the dress I am making for my daughter seems to be coming along, and even when the measurements are correct for the patters, I still do not see how a 40 inch around skirt is going to fit a 21 inch two year old! The guage and everything are correct, but it seems so huge! I guess I will see what happens in the end!

Please Pray for Prattville, Alabama.

We had a terrible tornado destroy the business district and over 800 homes in my city this past Sunday. My place of work was destroyed as well, so I find myself without a job.

I have taken to working on some projects fervently since then. It has to be the hardest thing I have ever tried to crochet, and the challenge is so wonderful to me for some reason. I love it. It is Heirloom Baby Blanket from Coats and Clarks free projects. I am doing it in snow white, so that if they have a boy or a girl it can work. It is a bit girly though from the flower in the middle, but hey, it's nice.

It's been a while, but I am finally able to have time to crochet again!

I know it's been a long time since I last posted, but life happens, ya know! I have been busy working and taking care of my family and watching my children grow up WAY TOO FAST before my eyes. My daughter will be ONE on the 15th of next month! Not to mention my son will turn THREE ont he 15th of November! I am happy and sad at the same time; happy that they are both growing up healthy and happy, but sad that they will never be my little babies again. Of course they will always be my babies, but you know what I mean. Nostalgia.....

Now for my current projects! I know I was working on the little girl's sweater last time I posted, and well, my daughter had outgrown the sizing before I finished it! I have decided to give it to a friend who has a daughter due in October! I will post a picture of the sweater and other projects I am working on when I can get a hold of a camera.

I have started a blanket called a Sunrise Sunset Afghan, and it is from Coats and Clarks free printed advertisements. It consists of making 48 squares, stitching them together, then bordering it all. So far I have two squares. One of each color combination.

I am also working on a baby blanket that I can already tell will take forever to complete, as the stitches take a long time to create on row.

Like I said, I will get pictures up as soon as I can get a camera, and I will post more later on!

Wow, it's May!

Well, May is here, and it really snuck up on me! I have been working on my new business and my job nonstop lately, with the only other time free being spent with my family.
I started a new project, but frogged it because I couldn't figure out where I was losing a stitch. I am starting over on it tomorrow night, or tonight after my meeting. It is a baby blanket for my friend, who had her son on May 2nd! I was there too! He is a blonde cutie!
On a family note, my daughter's first tooth broke through last night! All I know is that when she went down for her nap, it wasn't through yet, but when she woke up, it was! She is growing up too fast! I will have to get a picture when she is still enough!
I am planning on pulling out my red loom and making some hats for my friend's baby too, as she doesn't have any that fit him other than the one I gave her at her baby shower.
I also am planning on making a blue and white blanket for my son, as he is always wanting his sister's blanket I made her!
Did I mention that I got a new job making the same pay? Yep, and it is more flexible in that I will finally have weekends with my family again! And of course, more time to crochet and knit!

I became a Mary Kay consultant!

Yep, I just jumped into that pool of things! It got to the point of my having trouble walking, let alone standing upright. Yesterday, I went to the doctor, to find out that my back is spasming so bad that the natural curve of my spine is nonexistant at the moment. In other words, my back bone is straight as a board when it shouldn't be. That is the reason I can't stand up or walk normal..not to mention can't pick up my kids. I have been taking it easy, and therefore, have been working on the crocheted sweater pattern I found on Lauren's blog. The pattern is working up quickly, and I hope to finish it by tomorrow. Here's a picture of how far along I am:

I am making it a pretty good bit longer, as my daughter is tall for her age (28 unches already at seven months!) Okay, so I thought about it and calculated a $200 difference in the paycheck and said I would stay. The other job called and I told them my decision, and they offered an even higher pay rate for me to come to them! It was only 25 cents more, and with the gas prices, I decided to turn them down anyway, as the drive is 40 minutes one way.

I had an interview for another type of job altogether today, and found out while I was there that they were hiring for a couple of positions I could apply for. I applied for Car Sales Representative and Receptionist. I got told that I would probably be a good car saleslady, but that I would be an excellent receptionist....Makes me wonder if it is because I am a woman, since all the sales reps there were men but one. Anyway, they said they would call me Wednesday, as they are doing interviews for the next couple of days. I was the first of the day. I hope all goes well, as either job would give me the hours I need to have a more relaxed life with my family and of course more time with them too.

The little sweater I mentioned before is coming along beautifully, for what I have had a chance to do. Here's a pic, although badly lit.

It's khaki colored so far, and I am gonna give it a pink trim, or blue maybe. I haven't decided yet.

Whole Family has been Sick

Yep, it started with my son having a high fever, then my husband got sick. Now, my daughter and myself are just getting over it. Bronchitis. Yucky stuff.

I have good news. I had an interview at noon today for a new job, as I am tired of the drama at my current one, even though I have been at it for only two months. You never get a Saturday or a Sunday off, and we are working Easter Sunday, so I am missing my daughter's first Easter. I got the job today though, so I am thrilled. It pays more per hour, and I get a raise if all goes well after only 45 days! I am putting in my two weeks notice tomorrow, and hopefully all goes well. Pray for me.
The best part is that I don't have to work as many days, and the pay ends up being about the same as where I am busting my butt now. I miss my family, and this will give me the opportunity to have more time with them. It will also give me more time to work on some projects I have neglected, including that blanket made in the ombre. I bought four skeins each of three different fun fur boas, one in variegated black, gray and white, one in variegated browns, and one in variegated reds. Beautiful fun furs! I also grabbed some yarn that was considered camo yarn on clearance, but it is snow white! I got three skeins of it.

Now, I finally have a day off, so I decided to start some new projects. (I really need to finish two right now though, including that blanket I am hand crocheting.) One of the ones I have started and am going to finish later tonight is a fun fur boa hat. I knifty knitting it on the green loom, and it is in the boa color of the black, greys, and white variegated color. Another, is I am learning to knit by hand, as Isela has me wanting to hand knit some socks!

Here's a preview of the boa hat in progress:

A Scarf Pattern For Sale

Yep, a pattern I made up for a fashion scarf! I have started making a baby blanket that is made in rounds, and it looks wonderful! Gauge is right on and everything. It took me a couple of tries to get it started, but I finally did, and have a square that is about 8 inches across so far. I did keep making one mistake that I fixed well into the work, so it isn't perfect. It will be my daughter's blanket to chew on. I am gonna make one possibly for my friend who is due to have a boy in May. I made her the hat and booties in a previous post. I will post a picture when I can get our new digital camcorder working and take a photo with it. Finally, good pictures!

The Scarf is Complete!

Well, I would have posted this two days ago, but the computer died... I am using the Chenille Thick and Quick yarn. I am using the Knifty Knitter purple loom and only using one strand of the yarn. I am using all but the last ten pegs, five on each side, in the double knit pattern. I will post a pic of the finished product later on. I did start to make it with two strands and using the whole purple loom, but it was too big and too bulky to look nice, so I started all over with what I am doing now.

My Most Recent Projects

Here's my most recent projects. I made hats for both my son and daughter using The red knifty knitter loom. These are double reversible hats, and they are the toddler to age ten size. I used the pattern from Bev's Child Double Hat . My son loves to wear his, but my daughter is a bit small for hers yet! She is not quite four months yet!

The below project is a gift for a friend having a baby boy in May. The hat is of my own pattern using the red knifty knitter loom and the ribbed knit stitch.
